About Me

I am a qualified psychologist in private practice in Durban North. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg campus). I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders. I am also a member of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA), the Durban Practising Psychologists’ Group (DPPG), the Durban Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Peer Group, and the South African Emotionally Focused Therapy  community (EFT South Africa).

I completed my internship in 2013 at the Durban University of Technology's Student Counselling and Health Department. After I qualified, I assisted Dr Bev Killian (Clinical Psychologist) as a locum psychologist in her private practice in Pietermaritzburg.

In 2014, I was employed at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) as the resident psychologist for the Humanities Extended Curriculum Programme. From this time, I have also been lecturing the full first level Psychology curriculum on the Extended Curriculum Programme at UKZN.

In February 2017, I decided to focus full-time on building my private practice. I still lecture Psychology part-time at UKZN and I am also professionally supervising postgraduate Psychology students registered on the Masters programme at UKZN, Pietermaritzburg campus. In addition, I am professionally assisting Kerry Salvesen (Counselling Psychologist) with educational assessments and play therapy in her busy private practice in Westville.

I have further been involved in UKZN’s School of Psychology Mentoring Programme as well the project coordinator for The Sizabantwana Project, an educator development initiative.

Even with a great focus on my professional development, I ensure to indulge in the aspects of life that enable me to live more holistically. In my spare time, I participate in CrossFit, trail running and yoga; I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, finding the best coffee spots, and travelling locally exploring the wonders of Durban and KZN.
